CARCASS Drummer's 'Family Situation' Forces Postponement Of Australia/New Zealand Tour

British extreme metal veterans CARCASS have been forced to postpone their Australian tour with BRUJERIA due to a "family situation" affecting their drummer Dan Wilding.

On Wednesday, September 2, CARCASS released the following statement via social media: " We're incredibly sorry to announce that we have decided to reschedule our upcoming 'Putrefying Down Under' Australia / NZ tour along with our China and India dates.

"Our drummer Dan is facing a deeply upsetting family situation, and his priority right now is being with his family. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won't be sharing further details, but we hope our fans will understand that this is a situation where family has to come first and he simply cannot be so far away from home for so long.

"We know how much people have been looking forward to these shows, and postponing them is not a decision we have taken lightly.

"For our fans in India, Bangalore Open Air will still go ahead as scheduled, and we sincerely encourage everyone to attend the festival, support the other bands performing and be part of what will still be an incredible day.

"Thank you for your patience, understanding and, most importantly, your kindness and support at what is a very difficult time for our band and family.

"All existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

"Thank you for understanding."

CARCASS's latest album, "Torn Arteries", was released in September 2021 via Nuclear Blast Records. Wilding did session work in Sweden at Studio Gröndahl with David Castillo while guitars were recorded at The Stationhouse with James Atkinson in Leeds, England. Eventually needing some form of residential location to finalize vocals, bass, and other guitarwork, the band headed back to Studio Gröndahl in Sweden to continue work in a very relaxed atmosphere with Castillo.

The "Torn Arteries" album title references an old demo created by original drummer Ken Owen back in the 1980s. The album artwork also rings reminiscent of the grotesque photography that appears on classic CARCASS album covers like "Reek Of Putrefaction" and "Symphonies Of Sickness". Artist Zbigniew Bielak traveled outside his normal wheelhouse to bring forth a time lapsed set of photos showing vegetables shaped like a heart, rotting over time upon a white plate. This form of artwork was influenced by Japanese Kusôzu, meaning: "painting of the nine stages of a decaying corpse."

Ferocious and uncompromising in their execution, CARCASS's ability to intricately dissect the innards of death metal and display them for us to sonically understand has been their point of excellence for nearly four decades. Whether it was inventing gore-grind or creating the template for melodic death metal, CARCASS has always made records by which bars were set and rules were broken.
